Mother's Day came partly early today

Hey all,Just wanted to say: Happy Mother's day to you all.

Also wanted to tell you about an early gift I got today. Here are 2 pictures. We did the usual aturday thing after going into Houston foran Eye Clinic visit at the VA. Michael and I did our Trader'sVillage Flea Market Stroll.Then he said I want to take you to Lunch today for Mother's Day,we're going to dinner tomorrow after church but I want to dosomething special now. So we went to the Golden Corral. Then hesaid I need to run and errnad before we go home so I just continuedto knit while he drove. Well we end up at the local yarn shop and Isaid hey what are we doing here. His reply "to get you yourMother's Day gift, I thought that he was getting me a gift certificate.

Lordy, I nearly passed out!! I started to smile and grin and the owner handed me the pink set of needles. So I am now the proud owner of the Pink set of Denise Circular needle set!! I wanted the pink because $5.00 goes the Sue Ireland Breast Cancer Research foundation. 2 years ago I discovered a lump in my breast and thought I would die. It wasn't cancer thank you Jesus but the stress, anguish and the waiting to get the results were the longest weeks of my life. So that is why I chose the pink because I want a cure to befound for this horrible disease. I hope to have 2 new pictures for the next post which will be in a few days. I am finishing up 2 projects tht I have been presently working on.

The weather is getting warmer and in about a week our pool will be ready and I will be able to sit on the edge and dangle my legs in the water. Then soon I will begin my water aerobics. We have purchased 2 cute life jackets for the dogs so they can go swimming with us and also on the off shot that they fall in the pool if we are inside they won't drown. We are looking into getting an alarm system for the pool. They are a bit more expensive for in-ground pools. Well y'all have a great day!!

My visit to RI and Spa Sock progress

Well it's been a crazy time for me. Went back to visit and see my daughter graduate from Tech School. We are so proud of her. Michael left her a beautiful message on my cell phone since he did not have her cell number. Then of course had to see the grand kids. Aren't they cuties? They have grown quite a bit since the last time I saw them.

Well I finally finished one Spa sock and should have the other done by the end of the week. Then I will start on the pair for my sister. I finally got the yarn in lilac. Well it is a subdued lilace and I have a nice shade of green for te cuffs.

My mom loves the shawl/wrap I am making abnd has asked me to get the exact same yarn so she can make one too. So I got the yarn the circular neddle and the pattern for her and will mail it all this weekend. Well it is almost 1:15 in the morning and I need to do a little more work on the spa sock and then I need to get to bed. Michael has oral surgery tomorrow so I will have to make the drive into Houston, YUCK road construction sucks!!

New projects finished ~ April 2007

Well has been awhile since I last posted have been real busy. But have pictures of finished cable twist purse and barely there sock in progess. Plus what a score I made yarn wise today at the Family Thrift store. I brought a bag of yarn, 8.5 balls of 100% virgin wool yarn called Icelandia in the color way called Dark Wood. Now I just have to figure out what I can use it for lol. Am getting ready to visit family next week. Michael will be home with the dogs. I hope he does ok lol. I will call him everyday. It will be strange not being around him all the time. Well it is late so have a good night stay safe and be good all!

Finished 2 Things!!

Well I finally finished the back of Gianni's sweater thanks god now I will work on making a sleeve then do the front the the other sleeve. Well I took my DPN class and was having a blast because I learned how ti use DPN's well my hat ended up with a nipple. Yes I said nipple you can stop laughing now ok! Anyway Michael said honey if you used deep chocolate brown yarn you'd have a hershey kiss hat. Anyway I call it my elf hat and think it's cute, I'll just put a pom pom on top and she's good to go. Not much to add today have been busy get rid of more "junk" in the house and it feel good to get rid of things from the past. Not good to carry extra, useless baggage when it is not needed nor wanted. I have also been working on my cable knit purse and that was another fun class that I took at Yarntopia. I tell you I just love my LYS.

I did get some awesome Hand Maiden Angel Hair in Glacier and Beery and they are slated for beautiful lace shawls. There is enough yarn so that I can make 2 shawls from each bowl now that is awesome ya think lol. The Glacier shawl is going to have the beaded ends. I found some very nice irridescent beads to give it a little extra sparkle. I am not sure that I will bead the ones madewith the Berry color though. The yarn is soft it is 70% Kid Mohair and 30% Nylon. I think next I will make something using a Rowan yarn I think they have one call Haze Kid silk. I want to make one using thier Wicked color number 599. That is such a rich black too. Well enjoy the pictures will post more later this week!

February Already!!!

Well as you can see I have made a bit of progress with my projects that I am doing lol. I am very please with the way that the lace is turning out. I just wish I could knit faster!! I am almost done with the back section of Gianni's sweater and I am very excited about that one. It is my "first" sweater for me. I am only taking 2 classes this month at the LYS. One on learning to knit cables and the other is learning how to use DPN's. Have to save for the "big" weding and reception in May. It will be neat to see my dad in a Tux.

Now as you can see in the next picture Sir Angus is checking out the 2 cakes/balls of Cascade Yarns Quatro #9434. It's a nice soft 100% Peruvian Highland Wool. This will be used for a lace shawl. I will make that for a very special friend who has a serious health issue. This will be light enough for those cool nights in the desert, and can be used year round which is nice. The next picture shows the 2nd panel of 5 tht is part of a throw for my FL friend. I was teasing her. I said yeah I am knitting something for you in your favorite color "GREEN". She hates green but I couldn't resist I just had to bust her up about that one lol.

This photo here shows one of the pieces of jewelry that I make. This particular bracelt is made using red tiger's eye beads and sterling silver link beads and clasp. I am still trying to figure out what I should sell it for. Anyway I am hoping that tomorrow is a better day weather wise. I am not fond of driving in the rain. Oh yes I finally got a TX license. Talk about getting stressed. We ended up going up to the College Station/Bryan area because it was easier to get in and out. The one in Houston was a nightmare and after trying for 3 days to get a road test we headed up north and it was worth the 90 minute drive up. Now I can drive my Christmas present and Michael gets to sit in the passenger seat. I told him if he makes to many remarks or comments I have no issues with pulling over so he can get out and walk lol. Have a great week all!

Another dreary Rainy Day :(

Well this is a picture from when I lived on at the beach in RI. I miss walking the beach at sunrise, but I do not miss the cold, raw and damp weather lol.

Well it has been a crazy week again weather wise where is the mild winter weather in TX? I have been knitting more now since it is cold. The little ones do not want to go out and get their paws wet so no daily walks lol.

I am almost to the point where I start to shape the neckline of the front part of my granddaughter sweater. Plus I think I will use the same yarn but in a different color for the sleeves of her sweater to give it a little punch to the color. The lace project is going along, a little slow but I am confident that once I get all the stitches down I will be able to fly with it. I am looking forward to taking classes next month at the LYS. I have several that I need to take so I can learn how to make socks and etc. I am thinking that maybe I will try to get very good doing lace work and I figure the more you practice the better you become.

I feel much better now that my mom is doing better with physical therapy now for a while she had us rather worried but things are coming along rather well. I am going to try to figure out where I stored my knitting pictures so I can post some other ones. I have a newer computer and have to figure out what hard drive they are on lol. Thank God Michael is a computer wiz lol. That's all for now will try and get pictures posted soon!

What's on the needlesand then some

Well here we are again this time with pictures to show what I am currently working on. As you can see I like to have a few projects going so if I get tired I can switch to something else lol. The first picture shows the lace scarf I am making. On Jan. 6th I took my first class at the LYS, called Easy Peasy Lace. I am using sz. #6 bamboo needles and the yarn is just to die for!! It is Handmaiden their Silk Maiden in the vintage colorway. I just couldn't resist this yarn it is 50% silk and 50% wool and it is so so soft!! Some folks may say that it was a bit pricey but hey I'd rather use top quality when I know it will last a very long time with proper. The next picture shows the front part of the sweater I am making for my youngest granddaughter's 3rd b'day next month, also Rita was checking out the progress I have made. I am using Sz. #8 bamboo needles and Plymouth Yarn's Jelli Beenz in color #513-1885. It's a bright pink with yellow, blue, green, red and orange running through it. I had help picking this yarn Amy from theYarntopia showed me this and I liked it because it is 75% acrylic and 25 The last pick is of my latest yarn for socks. It is a Debbie Bliss Cashmerino DK. I can't remeber the colr at the moment, but I can hardly wait till I get going on the socks. Well the weather is changing and I need to get a few things done before I can sit down put my feet up relax and knit. Cath ya later gator, Ciao! Bella
